Intended Audience

The activity's target audience will consist of nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinical nurse specialists, advanced degree nurses, oncology and hematology nurses, pharmacists, and physicians.

Learning Objectives

After completing this educational activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the data that support the integration of palliative care with oncology
  2. Describe at least two palliative care skills that any advanced practitioner can bring to the practice of oncology
  3. Compare and contrast Type I and Type II oncologists in order to better play a team role in providing palliative care
  4. Identify at least two barriers to integration of palliative care into standard cancer care
